I picked up this chandelier from the thrift store for just $8. Its brassy color put me off but I liked the shape and decided I would find a way to change its finish. Looking around the internet I found that several people had spray painted their chandelier, and while none of them looked amazing I decided to do it anyway.
First I took it apart so that I could only paint the metal. If you decide to do this yourself be sure to take pictures like the one above. My chandelier has about 40 parts and it’s hard enough putting it together using a picture as a guide.
I hung the chandelier under a ladder and arranged the metal pieces underneath. I gave each piece three light coats with Rust-Oleum’s brown hammered finish spray paint. I was surprised how much I loved the outcome, it doesn’t look spray painted at all.
Here is the newly painted chandelier in all its brown hammered glory!
